Every child deserves a safe, drug-free learning environment. It is critical for a school’s success to have an effective, accurate, and discreet method of detecting drugs on school grounds.
DK9D is the least intrusive way to sniff for and identify illegal substances in a school.
Drug use in schools drastically increases the probability of crime, lowers student performance, and costs the school in both monetary and human resources. The presence of a highly trained drug dog, as well as the knowledge that this dog is regularly present, is a powerful deterrent against the possession and trafficking of illegal drugs by any student or staff member.
DK9D is 100% confidential, so this allows school administrators to decide how best to handle the results in compliance with school policy.
DK9D can provide a single drug sweep of your school or we can create a customized reoccurring program to maintain a safe learning environment for all students, teachers, and administrators. Our K9 team will work with school administrators to outline a plan to sniff the following areas:
Drug use results in an increase in crime and a lowering of overall student performance. Research by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), from 1991 to 1996, shows the percentage of 8th graders having used illegal drugs has approximately doubled. During the same 5 year period, there was an approximate 50% increase in use for 10th and 12th graders.
In addition, as reported in too many recent news stories of student deaths in schools, firearms are an ever-increasing threat. Drugs and firearms are usually linked, with drugs preceding violence.
Illegal drugs present a problem for teachers, administration, and most importantly, for students. Undoubtedly your school has tried any number of different solutions, but is still seeking a solution that has a strong initial impact, and an ongoing impact, on students and personnel.
Our service is available to assist you in establishing and maintaining a drug free learning environment.
DK9D, a private company, works confidentially with school administration. Our personnel do not perform any searches; we simply use our dogs to indicate the presence of contraband. This helps the administration be more efficient by limiting the actual searches to the areas of the school in which the dogs indicate the presence of contraband. If any contraband is located, the school administration decides how to handle the situation.
